Project Updates
Construction of the Buckley Substation began in October 2022. While the majority of the work will take place within the new substation footprint, there is a portion of this work that will affect 112th Street East and the Foothills Trail. These impacts will be communicated in advance to those living in the community. Please expect construction traffic and noise as work progresses.

Project overview
To increase reliability and meet growing customer demand for power, PSE is building a new substation in Buckley off 112th St E and demolishing the old substation. This work will ensure continued, reliable electrical service to PSE customers, and will enable future operational and maintenance flexibility for PSE crews. This project is part of the larger electric reliability improvement effort which includes several electric upgrade projects from Krain Corner through Electron Heights. The new Buckley substation will increase the capacity and reliability for nearly 5,000 customers in the Buckley and Enumclaw areas.
It's our goal to minimize construction impacts as much as possible. Our construction methodology was chosen to minimize impacts to the natural habitat and nearby wetlands, as well as to the corridor itself. After each stage of construction is complete, we will progressively restore the site back to its original condition.
