If you have a past due balance and have enrolled in other PSE assistance programs, you might be eligible for Past Due Bill Forgiveness, offering you a fresh start.
In exchange for making on-time payment of your total current charges due, Past Due Bill Forgiveness will forgive 1/12 of your total past due amount. Make 12 on-time payments and the entire past due amount included in the program is fully forgiven. Learn more with our FAQs below.

Step 1 - See if you are eligible
- A PSE residential customer, with an active PSE account
- Have received PSE HELP assistance in the current program year
- Are enrolled in the Bill Discount Rate program
- Are more than 30 days past due
Step 2 - If eligible, here’s how to apply
- Already applied for or are enrolled in Bill Discount Rate and PSE HELP? Apply for the Forgiveness plan.
- Next, accept the Forgiveness plan’s terms & conditions and submit the online application.
- Once approved, if email is your preferred communication method, you will receive an email notification confirming your enrollment.
Step 3 - Not eligible?
Here’s the steps needed for Forgiveness plan eligibility
- Go to the Bill Discount Rate program page, see if you qualify and apply.
- By applying for Bill Discount Rate, an application for PSE HELP will automatically be started.
- While completing your application for the Bill Discount Rate program, also accept the Forgiveness plan’s terms & conditions.
- Once applied, you can check the status of your applications.

How can I review my program details and status after enrolling in Past Due Bill Forgiveness?
If email is your preferred communication method, upon approval you will receive a detailed email confirming your enrollment. Your monthly billing statement will also display your current enrollment status. If you have already applied you can check the status of your applications.
How many payments are required to complete Past Due Bill Forgiveness?
To receive full forgiveness under Past Due Bill Forgiveness, you must make 12 on time and complete payments.
What if I miss a payment?
You are allowed two missed/late payments per enrollment. To remain in the program, simply make up the missed payment(s) along with your current bill by the next billing due date.
What if I can't maintain my regular monthly payments after enrolling in Past Due Bill Forgiveness?
While any forgiven amounts remain unaffected, failure to keep up with regular payments may result in your automatic removal from the program.
Is there a maximum amount eligible for past-due forgiveness through Past Due Bill Forgiveness?
Yes, the maximum eligible forgiveness amount under Past Due Bill Forgiveness is $2,500.
Can I be enrolled in another payment plan and still join Past Due Bill Forgiveness?
Yes, you can enroll in Past Due Bill Forgiveness plan even if you are on another payment plan. However, please note that your existing payment plan will be canceled upon enrollment in the Past Due Bill Forgiveness plan.
Can I re-enroll in Past Due Bill Relief Plan after completing the program?
Eligible customers may enroll in Past Due Bill Forgiveness plan two years after the start date of their enrollment in this plan.
I agreed to Past Due Bill Forgiveness Terms & Conditions, when will my forgiveness begin?
Past Due Bill Forgiveness follows your enrollment in the PSE HELP and Bill Discount Rate assistance programs. After your enrollment in these programs has been approved and you meet eligibility, you’ll be enrolled in Past Due Bill Forgiveness. From the point of that enrollment, which will be indicated on your bill, the forgiveness will occur after every on time payment of current charges.
